The Hub Cycle Hire Shop | Fixed Term Full Time Role – October to April 2027

Are you the sort of person who loves dealing with people, and isn’t afraid to get your hands dirty? We’re looking for someone who can run our busy bike hire and retail hub as if it were their own business. You’ll be the face of the shop, the person customers remember, and the one who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

About the Role – you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer experiences while being hands on with the day-to-day operation of The Hub Shop. You’ll help customers hire bikes, book experiences, provide safety briefings, manage bookings and payments, maintain our bike fleet, and ensure the site is organised, welcoming and operating efficiently.

During peak periods, you’ll also work with casual staff and lead the daily operation of the site. This is largely a sole-charge position, so we’re looking for someone who is confident making decisions, solving problems, and taking initiative.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience

Welcome and engage with customers
Assist customers with bike and equipment hire
Process bookings, payments and enquiries
Provide clear safety briefings and route advice
Handle customer issues professionally and positively
Create a fun, welcoming atmosphere for visitors

Operations & Administration

Manage daily opening and closing procedures
Handle cash and EFTPOS transactions
Ensure health and safety requirements are met
Manage stock, supplies and presentation of the shop

Bike Fleet Management

Clean and prepare bikes daily
Carry out basic bike maintenance and repairs
Change tubes and repair punctures
Check bikes are safe and ready for hire
Monitor bike condition and report maintenance requirements

About You

You are:

Calm under pressure when things get busy

Ideally You Will Have

Experience in hospitality, tourism, retail or customer service
An interest in cycling, outdoor recreation or tourism
Basic bike maintenance skills (or willingness to learn)
