Do you have:
A passion for the NZ outdoors through biking or hiking, including experience of our cycle trail network?
Leadership experience, including great organisational and communication skills; with an ability to be flexible, dynamic and think on your feet?
A good understanding of the nature, culture and history of New Zealand and an ability to help guests have a great time discovering our country?
Qualifications or ability to gain Outdoor First Aid, Passenger and Class 2 Driving Licenses?We offer great training and support, a strong guiding culture, and an opportunity to work with interesting guests from New Zealand and overseas.
We employ people from all walks of life; however, we prefer those who are looking at adventure tourism with a longer-term view. We are committed to sustainable adventure travel.
Adventure South NZ guides are the face of the company and carry a large amount of responsibility. Our season runs from October through to April. Each trip you can expect to be away from home for a week or longer. Our guides work long days and each day you’ll need to be ready for different challenges that come your way.
Great guides make for great trips. We are flexible and enjoy having people work with us guiding lots of trips or just a few. We are proud of the feedback we receive from our guests, and our high number of returning guests.
All applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand and have the ability to start/ finish tours in Christchurch.

Deliver engaging and specialized sessions in areas of sea kayaking, SuP, rafting, dragon boating, hiking, packrafting, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, white water kayaking, rock climbing, bouldering, school camps, corporate team building, tourism and travel (private guided driving tours), snorkeling, winter/alpinism and much more.
SNM also travels the country setting up glamping tents for weddings, festivals and events.
We work with Kiwi Rail and Great Journeys of New Zealand: you may travel AKL-ZQN / ZQN-AKL tour guiding over 17 days.
We repair many composite kayaks, waka ama, paddles etc.
You may be responsible for warehouse and office duties: packing and sending shop products, packing and prepping jobs, computer-based admin work (home or office), cleaning and maintenance.

Most job postings are full-time (including winter). Flexible contracts including seasonal, fixed-term, and casual options are negotiable (e.g. if you want to travel globally).
Competitive remuneration, including training and gear allowances, bonuses, commission, frequent travel nationally and internationally (less frequent), fuel travel cards, phone and plan and cash-tips.
Programs involve variable schedules, weekends, night-tours, sunrise-tours which staff share and rotate through.

Because of the large nature of our scope, Y Outdoors instructors are required to perform many different tasks including instructing multiple activities with a wide age range of participants, hosting groups, site readiness tasks such as cleaning, gear management and safety checks, performing day and night duties as necessary, and a host of other responsibilities that help keep Y Outdoors running smoothly.
Instructors are also required to work across multiple sites (we have bases in Wellington and Tongariro) for the duration of the season, however, we do try and have a home base for instructors that live locally to one of those locations.
