Adventure Cave Guide/ Operations Manager Full Time

About us:

We are Waitomo’s newest tourism operator, based 10 minutes out of Waitomo Caves Village in the beautiful King Country. We offer an adventure caving experience; Okohua Glowworm Cave Tour, which includes blackwater rafting, climbing, swimming, rope work, world famous Glowworm’s and a cedar hot tub to finish up. We specialize in small, intimate group tours with a core focus on safety, while offering an up market adventure tourism activity. Our facilities and equipment are immaculate with a significant investment being made for a new office, deck, hot tub, wetsuits, helmets, lights etc. Everything is brand new and ready for action!

We are a small, hard working, professional team. You will be working directly with the owners of the business daily. This provides you an opportunity to be heard, share your ideas and implement change. We aim to offer the highest quality adventure tour in Waitomo. Be a part of our legacy.

The role:

With the business growing rapidly we are in need for someone to assist our General Manager with daily operations, guide training and Cave guiding. You will start with guiding, learning the intricacies of the cave and how to deliver a world class tour. Following that you will ideally step into a lead guide/ daily operations role ready for the 26/27 summer season.

Immediate start – Permanent role. Please no short term seasonal applicants.
Guiding up to 2 tours a day with 6 guests per tour
Facilitating our guests to an incredible experience of the highest caliber
Guide training for new staff
Daily Operations
Being a small team the role will be varied. There will be cleaning, maintenance, answering calls, checking guests in etc. We all pitch in to ensure the wheels keep turning to the highest of standards

About you:

Exceptional interpersonal skills (you can talk to anyone at any time)
Excellent risk management/ judgement (safety first mentality)
Have a passion for hosting, show casing and sharing
Attention to detail
Available to work weekends and public holidays. We are only closed for Christmas day
Outdoor First Aid Certificate – We can help you obtain this
